An idea rooted in giving...

Clayton 'Nick' Nicholas, co-founder of Giving Tree and inventor of the GiveCard®, got the idea for the GiveCard while holiday shopping for his mom when he was stationed overseas as an officer in the military. He liked giving her a way to buy something she loved, but missed the feeling of giving a special and unique gift. 

In 2007, he and business partner Jeff Jacobs founded Giving Tree - a company with a vision for making a meaningful impact by providing meaningful gifts. In a time when people are focused on giving back, it's a perfect fit for something personal and meaningful. 

Nick and Jeff believe that everyone can be a philanthropist...it's a way of life. So they created a unique collection of socially responsible prepaid card products and a community for microgiving that recognizes the efforts of individuals, organizations and socially responsible companies to improve society and the environment. And just to show they practice what they preach, they donate 10% of Giving Tree profits back to their favorite charities.
